  I have been using this utility for a long time and it's great. There is a bug in the current version. You can't save the upper bounds of the IP address range. So even though I put 192.168.0.255, it always reverts to 192.168.255.255 on the next launch. This means scans take a long time. If I remeber to fix this whenever I launch the program it scans very quickly.

  I have a couple dozen devices on my home network. Most of the time, everything works. But when something goes awry, LanScan is my first stop to figure out what is going on. I bought the Pro upgrade, which is well worth the price. Having visibility of hostname, DNS names, and SMB name and domain all in one table is great. As is the extended port-scanning.I recently had a problem with an app startup conflict, and the developer was extrordinary in his pursuit of a solution. I had a working alternative debug version in a couple days, and a full fix in the App Store in less than two weeks. Outstanding!

  I us the a few times a week. If you're looking for a LAN scanner, this is a solid option. Works well, never a problem. Fast support, useful updates.I'd love to see the Interface button return to the main window one day, as it is useful to toggle between my separate networks.

  I changed my Gateway and wanted to make sure all devices were back online. I have more devices than appear in the limited list in Airport Utility for my Airport Extreme. I opened the app, clicked Start, and bingo the list was there in a very useful form. Thanks!

• Pro mode doesn't work after first use but still a good app

  I use this app when I'm bored and I want to see who is on my wifi network. Definitely fun to use, and I paid the $6 to see hostnames, but after one scan it no longer shows the hostname.
